The Search for the Finest Bowl
We are not a passive reseller. We travel to train with masters and test instruments in live practice. Our R&D is ongoing because the finest instrument available today is not necessarily the finest available tomorrow.
Our Minimum Standards
Every bowl we stock must meet all three criteria before we carry it.
We check the quartz and the tone. Impurities shorten sustain.
Each bowl in our range must sustain its fundamental tone for at least 18 seconds at room temperature.
We verify every bowl is within 5 cents of its stated note using calibrated reference equipment. Wider deviation undermines chakra alignment work.

2008
2008 · First steps into energy healing
At age 15, Founder Cecily began Cosmique Therapy with Master Mindy Chua of Malaysia. Mindy founded Cosmique Therapy in 2004 and went on to pioneer singing-bowl sound therapy education in Malaysia, building a community of tens of thousands of practitioners and more than 20 charity healing centres offering free treatment. Those early sessions planted the seed for Cecily's lifelong work with sound and energy.
2020
2020 · Soma Energetics DNA tuning fork training
Trained with SomaEnergetics, founded by David Hulse, in its DNA tuning fork work. The DNA and RNA forks are tuned to frequencies derived from the chemical building blocks of our genome, building on its foundational Energy Vitality technique for balancing the chakras with tuning forks.

2023 · Reformer Pilates certification, Elixr Bondi
Cecily trained and certified as a reformer Pilates instructor at Elixr in Bondi. The Elixr program is grounded in Joseph Pilates' original method, with its emphasis on correct positioning, alignment, breath and control from the core. Cecily also trained and worked as a stretch therapist in Double Bay and Darlinghurst.

Singing Bowls Australia launched from a personal healing journey, with a commitment to only stock instruments we would use ourselves in professional practice.
2024
Soma Energetics Partnership
Soma Energetics tuning forks and the Solfeggio frequency system came into the range alongside crystal bowls.

We partner with Divine Sound as a sister partner, giving our customers access to Crystal Tones™ alchemy singing bowls, made in the USA by fusing gemstones, minerals and metals into high-purity quartz.

Gong Training — Benton Mehtab
Our founder completed gong facilitation training under Benton Mehtab, adding the science of gong bath facilitation to our practical research. This deepened our understanding of how planetary instruments interact with crystal bowl frequencies.
2026
Don Conreaux Training — USA
In June 2026 we travelled to the United States to train with Don Conreaux, the 92-year-old gong master widely regarded as the world's leading teacher of the gong. Don received Kriya Yoga initiation in the lineage of Paramahansa Yogananda in 1953, and in 1969 he was one of the five original Kundalini Yoga teachers designated by Yogi Bhajan, who placed the gong in his hands.
From that moment Don devoted his life to the instrument. He originated the title of Gong Master, the Gong Bath, Gong Yoga and Gong Therapy, and for more than 55 years he has passed this lineage on, teacher to student, around the world. Receiving that lineage directly from Don means our gong practice carries an unbroken line back to its source, and it shapes how we choose, play and care for every instrument we offer.
Our bowls are reviewed yearly as new research and manufacturing technology emerges from our trips and correspondence with customers and other highly esteemed manufacturers and suppliers. Our nature is collaborative and we have collaborated and discussed quality with Gongs Unlimited in person and worked with Soma Energetics over the years to understand the fine tuning an instrument requires to be effective on the body. Cecily holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney. She also plays violin and guitar, and years of tuning strings by ear shaped how she listens for pitch and resonance in every bowl.
Methodology
This is how we test, play and choose a bowl.
Acoustic Testing
We start with the sound. We check pitch and sustain on every bowl: the fundamental must hold for at least 18 seconds at room temperature, and the note must sit within 5 cents of the pitch it claims. We listen for a steady tone, and we set aside any bowl that buzzes or falls away.
Playing in Session
We play the bowl in real sessions — private, couples, and group — and we listen to how it behaves with people in the room, not only in a quiet test.
Handling and Stability
We check the rim and the wall in ordinary use, and whether a mild change of temperature changes the tone. A bowl that chips at the first knock, or that buzzes after that change, does not pass.
Ongoing Review
Manufacturing is reviewed continuously.
Why Purity Matters
The difference between a 99% quartz bowl and a 99.99% quartz bowl is not marketing. Impurities — whether metallic oxides, calcium, or trapped air — dampen resonance and shorten sustain. They introduce noise into the overtone series. They make the bowl harder to rim consistently.
In a sound healing context, this matters clinically. A bowl that buzzes, fades quickly, or produces incoherent harmonics cannot do the entrainment work a clean bowl can. Our practitioners know the difference because they use these instruments in every session.
That is the underlying principle of our R&D: bowls are therapeutic instruments, not decorative objects. We hold them to therapeutic standards.
